Spontaneously driving to Morpeth.
I have such fond memories of wandering down the main road of Morpeth as a child. My sister Abbie would always buy tiny little baby doll figurines, and i'd always manage to find some cute little treasures too.
Morpeth is an old town with plenty of history so visiting this little shopping strip always felt magical and exciting. I decided to take a little trip in to the main street today to have a little wander and reminisce about old times.
It is still the beautiful old street it's always been, but I was quite saddened as the magical feel it always had seemed to have disappeared.
Almost all of the cute, quirky shops seemed to have been turned into strange shops that didn't make much sense to me. They sold a bunch of random things that didn't seem to work together. Quite a few shops sold crystals and did tarot card readings too.
Thankfully, the 2 main shops i've always loved are still there.. Miss Lily's Lollies & The Teddy Bear Shop.
As always, Miss Lily's Lollies was filled with locally made sweeties, along with a big selection of imported American lollies and chocolates. Of course I picked up a couple of little treats :)
The Teddy Bear shop just takes me straight back to my childhood! My favourite are the gorgeous GollyWog dolls, they are just so colourful and happy. I took a sneaky photo before noticing the sign saying "no photography", oopsie!
There were so many beautiful toy animals, teddys and giftware but I decided to behave and just browse :)
So overall, I loved exploring the beautiful old streets of Morpeth today! All of the nostalgic memories came flooding back, and the cute and slightly odd traditions my sister and I had when visiting made me laugh as I remembered them :)
Happy days, as always! x
